Introduction to Mahtari Vandana Yojana
In our country, women have had equal participation in all social and economic activities and the role of women in the development of the country is not hidden from anyone, but despite this, it has been seen that the participation of women in family decisions has always been comparatively less and negligence has also been shown in the health, maintenance and security of women.
This is the reason why according to the National Family Health Survey-5 (2020-21), the level of anemia in women aged 15 to 49 years has been found to be 60.8%, while this level has been found to be 51.5% in pregnant women. According to another data, according to the National Family Health Survey-5 (2020-21), 23.01% of women have been found to be below their standard body mass index.
Objective of Mahtari Vandana Yojana
Chhattisgarh State Government is committed to provide proper respect and work opportunities to women in the social system of the state. In this sequence, the state government has decided to implement Mahtari Vandan Yojana in entire Chhattisgarh to improve the economic self-reliance of women and their health and maintenance level and to strengthen their decisive role in the family, as well as to remove discrimination, inequality and lack of awareness towards them in the social system and for the purpose of health and nutrition. Under this, women who are eligible will be given financial assistance of ₹ 1000 every month.
Mahtari Vandan Scheme Eligibility
- To avail the benefits, the married woman should be a local resident of Chhattisgarh.
- Widows, divorced women and women who have been abandoned by their husbands will also be eligible to avail the benefits under this scheme.
- The woman seeking benefit should not be less than 21 years of age on 1st January of the year in which the application is being made i.e. the calendar year of application.
- No member of the family of the woman wishing to avail the benefit should be an income tax payer.
- No member of the family of the woman wishing to avail the benefit should be a current or former MP or MLA.
- Women whose family member is or has been the present or former Chairman or Vice-Chairman of any Board, Corporation or Board of the Government of India or State Government will be considered ineligible under this scheme.
- A woman whose family member is or has been a Class I/II or Class III official employee working on permanent/temporary contractual posts in the Government Department/Undertaking/Board/Local Body of the Government of India or State Government will not be eligible under this scheme.
- A woman who is already receiving an amount of Rs 1000 per month under any social assistance program or any other scheme will not be eligible to get the benefit under Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
Note: If a woman or women is receiving any amount less than Rs. 1000 under any social assistance program or through the Social Welfare Department, then such eligible women will be given only that additional amount so that they can get a total monthly amount of Rs. 1000.
Example: If a woman named Rakhi is already receiving an amount of ₹ 600 per month under the Social Welfare Department or any social assistance program, then in such a situation this woman will receive only ₹ 400 per month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, so that Rakhi can get a total monthly assistance of ₹ 1000.
Documents required to avail the benefits of Mahtari Vandan Yojana
- Aadhaar Card (both self and husband)
- Self and husband’s PAN card (if any)
- Bank passbook
- Domicile Certificate/ Ration Card/ Voter ID Card
- Marriage certificate (if there is no marriage certificate then certificate issued by Gram Panchayat and local bodies)
- Mobile Number
- Income Certificate
- Passport size photo (self attested)
- Death certificate of the husband in case the woman is a widow
- Certificate issued by society/ward/gram panchayat if the woman is deserted, i.e. abandoned by her husband
- Birth Certificate / 10th or 12th Marksheet / Transfer Certificate / PAN Card / Voter ID Card / Driving License (any one of these)
- Self-declaration/Affidavit (attached with the application)

Caution: If verification of the above documents submitted by the applicant along with the application is required, then the applicant will have to personally appear at the mentioned place and verify the documents. If any attempt is made to tamper with the documents or to give wrong information, then the eligibility of the applicant can be cancelled.
How to Apply Online for Mahtari Vandana Yojana?
- Applications for Mahtari Vandan Yojana 2024 started from 5 February 2024 and lasted till 20 February 2024. More than 70 lakh women applied and benefited from this scheme.
- At present, the offline/online application process under this scheme is closed. The application process for the second phase of Mahtari Vandan Yojana is expected to start from next month.

How to check the status of Mahtari Vandan Yojana?
To check the status of Mahtari Vandan Yojana, follow the following steps-
Step 1: First of all you go to the official website of Mahtari Vandan Yojana and click on ‘Application and Payment Status’ on it.

Step 2: Enter your ‘Beneficiary Number or Mobile Number’ in the given box, then fill the ‘Captcha’ and click on ‘Submit’.

Step 3: After filling all the details, you can check the status of your application and payment and can also ‘Print’ that information.

How to view Mahtari Vandana Yojana list?
After the last date for receiving applications has been fixed, applicants can check their names in the list displayed on the portal/app/Gram Panchayat Ward List Screening. To check your name in the list of Aavdika Mahtari Vandan Yojana, follow the following steps-
Step 1: First of all you go to the official website of Mahtari Vandan Yojana and click on ‘ Provisional List / Final List ‘ on it.

Step 2: The same details have to be selected in both the provisional list and final list.

Step 3: After selecting the general details in the given box, the list of beneficiaries will appear in front of you. You can search your name in the ‘Search Box’.

Objections: If there is any objection regarding the eligibility of the applicant woman or any beneficiary woman, it can be registered by anyone through the portal or APP. Apart from this, objection can also be registered in writing with the Panchayat Secretary / Ward Incharge / Anganwadi Worker and Project Office with necessary proof.
Note 1: The objections will be resolved by the Objection Redressal Committee, the form of which will be different for Gram Panchayat, Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation.
Note 2: If the applicants disqualified by the Objection Redressal Committee feel that it is not fair or they are not satisfied with the disqualification, then in such a situation they can submit an appeal application with all their documents before the District Collector. The District Collector will examine it and decide on it within 15 days and the decision of the District Collector will be the final decision.
Note 3: Mahtari Vandan Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state of Chhattisgarh on 10 March 2024.
